Super Ping Pong Trick Shot – Nintendo Switch – Released: 10/19/17 – $4.99

Short Review (Review copy provided by Developer)

This review won’t have separate due to not having very much to talk about. So onto the review! This game I wasn’t too sure about but after it appeared in my inbox I installed it and gave it a go. This game is not very good… I would like it to be good since it has a good idea but the controls are terrible. The game has serious issues when it comes to all the ways you can throw the ball. You first are able to decide the arc, a power bar appears which fills up, you press A and the ball gets launched. It sounds easy but takes a very long time to get used to and since the bar fills up very quickly it is hard to get just the right amount. Being able to choose your arc is important but since balls are limited, it can be frustrating to have just the perfect arc but you never hit the right amount of power resulting in you missing a ton of throws you could have gotten if it let you be more in control. This would make the game easier but then the game overall would have better controls. There are a ton of stages and each stage has 3 stars to obtain, you don’t have to get these all in one go which is nice so it does have that. You never feel as though you need to collect all of them since you can always come back to it after you complete one of them. There are always two cups to throw your ball into one is always really easy that can typically get in without bouncing off of anything but the other cup is always a hard one that requires a good amount of fine tuning to get the requirements for that one. I did include some gameplay of the first few levels but this is a game I would stay a bit away from unless it pops up for half off of one dollar in the future.

The icon is fine for what is it:

Final Thoughts

I would say pass on this game. It is a neat idea but ultimately has some poor controls that make something impossible or too much trial and error to make it worth the frustration.

UPDATE: 5/30/18

I would give this game a 3 out of 10!

Four reviews this week! On par with another week but all smaller games that were either really good, in the middle or just bad.
