Let’s go back down!
Journey Down Chapter 2 – Nintendo Switch – Released: 6/28/18 – $19.99
Short Review (Review copy provided by BlitWorks)
This is a fairly short review so just read the full review, I would give this game a 9 out of 10! This review will spoil the end of the first chapter which I did have missing information regarding what really happens before the credits roll. So you are warned now!
Story
Chapter 1 ends with you retrieving all the parts for the plane and finally getting on your way. The problem is you run out of fuel which is strange since they are a gas refilling company. Chapter 2 opens with a ship finding the gang out on the ocean with the plane. Bwana, Kito and Lina find out that they are now on a ship that has been lost at sea. Bwana finds a way to get the boat back to shore just to be arrested and Lina is taken away. The bulk of the game is about trying to get back to Lina and a few interesting things happen between so I won’t spoil them.
Gameplay
Just like the first chapter you find yourself controlling Bwana grabbing items and trying to figures out puzzles. This game is identical to the first Chapter so check out that review here: Click Here! It will better explain things and doesn’t have me repeating the exact same lines.
Personal Experience
Chapter 1 took the bulk of its time explaining characters and backstory. Chapter 2 has none of that which is much better for your wallet and the overall story. It progresses forward much quicker and things are moving much faster to keep me entertained. The puzzles are broken up into smaller parts as well so nothing feels like you have to talk to half a dozen to a dozen characters to get any answers. The first puzzle is contained like the first puzzle in Chapter 1 then the second puzzle is much smaller just trying to escape prison. It is much better this way and hope that Chapter 3 follows this pattern. I was more invested in the characters this time as well since I wanted to know what happened to the book and where Lina was taken.
Final Thoughts
Things are looking much better for this series in Chapter 2 as things are better fleshed out, characters have their own time to shine, and there isn’t a huge puzzle to tie everything together. Everything being broken into small segments in much better than having a more open world. I like point and click games but it is a bit of a mess when the world is too open which Chapter 2 corrects in all the right ways. I would give The Journey Down Chapter 2, a 9 out of 10!
My Gameplay Footage:
Currently uploading gameplay!
Trailer: (PC Trailer for Chapter 2)
Cocktails: Kito
1/3 oz Tequila
1/3 oz Kahlua
1/3 oz Butterscotch Schnapps
Went with a more “dead” vibe with Kito and the Butterscotch is for his careful attitude toward things and people even when things on looking bad.
