A grand slam or a foul ball?
Baseball Riot – Nintendo Switch – Released: 1/19/18 – $4.99
Short Review (Review copy provided by 10Tons)
Baseball Riot is another game by 10Tons that basically rips off their own game, King Oddball. Now is it a bad thing or a good thing? Its a little bit of both so the good is I like the simple throw ball see where it goes and move on. The bad is the game is pretty boring due to the raise and repeat nature of it. There is nothing special about it so at $5 you get what you pay for. I do enjoy this game but much like Angry Birds, Cut the Rope and other games in this genre. It is easy to 100%, very time consuming due to the amount of levels, and average at best. Do I recommend this game? Yes actually because it is a time consuming game that easily paid for itself in my standard of $1 is one hour of play. I was able to get more than 5 hours to 100% it so it does pass. I wouldn’t say it is a great game but if you have truly nothing else to play. Go for it or wait for Tesla vs Lovecraft, which should be an amazing game.
Another icon that stands out because of the big lettering and character:
Story
Surprisingly this game has a story… It is about Gabe Carpaccio and he is trying to take vengeance on his former team. They have teamed up with Expoldz Inc and he wants to take them all down. Pretty weird story but I guess something is better than nothing. At least they tried since many companies would have just dropped you into this sort of game with no explanation.
Gameplay
Much like Kind Oddball, your job is to destroy or collect everything on the screen. There isn’t very much to explain here outside of if you hit 3 or more enemies you gain an extra ball. Unlike King Oddball if the ball comes in contact with you, you do not get the ball back. It is a fairly simple game so check out the video if you want to see more.
Personal Experience
Sad to say but I did enjoy playing this game. It is a game that I will definitely be picking up from time to time just to kill time. It loads quickly so if I wanted to just do a few areas or clean up some missing collectibles I can easily do it. The game is simple but what do you really expect from a $5 game? It isn’t a master piece and what has been done has been done relatively the same or better in other things. I do feel as though King Oddball is the better game so pick up that before this if anything.
Final Thoughts
I would say if you are looking for a game that is just like Oddball but more normal physics go for it…. besides that it is no different than Oddball. I liked Oddball much more and this just feels like other mobile games. I wish they would push out a new game but for now this is something that I know will kill some time. As much as I don’t want to really play these types of games they do hold my interest for several minutes and they are quick to load. If you look at the gameplay video you can see me push to finish the first block because of how it is laid out.
UPDATE: 5/31/18
I would give this game a 7 out of 10!

Another 10Tons game…. surprisingly I am just looking forward to Tesla at the moment. It looks great and I am getting a little tired of these sub par ports and remakes of other games. I didn’t mind it with King Oddball but this game isn’t much different for good and bad. It is still a good game but just felt as though Oddball was a much better game because it did it first or was it second…. or even third? Not sure when exactly 10Tons puts out these games on other platforms so not sure when this was actually made.
